It's the day before spring break but Mrs. Gerharts juniors in English III are doing SAT Bootcamp today. We are sorting the 15 types of SAT Reading and Writing Questions. Students helped laminate and cut out 378 questions from seven practice tests.
Congratulations to our "Spartan Staff Member of the Month" Mr. Millspaugh! Mr. Millspaugh was nominated by Lucy Meeks and Hannah Austin. Staff of the month is then selected by MCC's Student Council.
Mason County Central Schools would like to remind families that Thursday March 27th will be our last day of school for this week as we head into Spring Break. Students will return to school on Tuesday April 8th. We hope you have a relaxing enjoyable break.

Mrs. Rodriguez’s WWII Literature classes have been reading "Night" by Elie Wiesel. Today they spent time in the Immersive Room learning about the Holocaust, Auschwitz, and Elie and other survivors.
Yesterday's power outage was not convenient but Mr. Weinert's Anatomy class drew locations of skeletal muscle by memory with correct spelling. Mrs. O'Connor's history students annotated text by flashlight. Students and teachers making it happen with resilience at MCC!
Tonight's Esports match is cancelled due to a power outage. No make-up date has been scheduled as of yet.

Dear MCC School Family,
Wow! What a Winter!!!
In case you lost count we have had 11 snow days thus far in the 2024-2025 School Year.
Each school year, the State automatically authorizes 6 days for school day cancellations when circumstances beyond our control occur. In addition, the Michigan Department of Education can waive up to 3 additional days for districts with compelling reasons to cancel. I am happy to report that we just recently received our waiver request for the 3 additional days.
With that being said, we still need to make up the 2 other days. We will do this by simply extending the calendar 2 days - adding June 9th and 10th on to the end of the calendar. Of course if further school day cancellations occur, those too would need to be added to the end of the school year. As previously planned, the last day of school will be a 1/2 day.
Let's hope that Ol' Man Winter is finally ready to give in to a Beautiful Spring Season and close of this school year.
We wanted to get this change in the end-of-year calendar to you as soon as possible for planning purposes.

The students in WWII Literature have finished their timeline wall. They learned about different people from WWII and the Holocaust and laws/decrees passed by the Nazis. Putting history in its context will help the students as they begin reading Night by Elie Wiesel this week.
This Wednesday, March 19th, our school will be represented at the West Michigan Student Showcase. This event recognizes the region's best in the area of the arts. Having their works and talents showcased are:
Clara Baur for literary arts, Helena Snell for visual arts, Triniti Arnold for performing arts, and the performing arts group of Alana Lapointe, Margarite Robel, and Brayden Morse. Congratulations!
🌟 Join us this weekend for an engaging Family Affair on Saturday, March 15th from 10 AM to 2 PM. This event offers interactive booths, games, and activities designed to bring out the superhero in everyone! It's an excellent opportunity for families to connect and have fun together. MCC esports sweeps both ends of a double header! The Mario Kart squad never lost a single race or match! Everyone one the team contributed with Jackson Rosenow leading all racers with 158 points! With two wins today, MCC moves into #25 in state! Great job MCC Mario Kart!

We were just made aware that PowerSchool sent out a broad email to all of Mason County Central Schools' Parents/Guardians and Staff regarding the cybersecurity incident back in December of 2024. So far all indications show that Mason County Central's data was not a widescale breach. In addition, Mason County Central Schools does NOT load individual's social security numbers into the system. But being diligent in assuring the protection of your data is what PowerSchool is striving to do.
As a reminder, PowerSchool is a company that provides Mason County Central Schools and districts across the United States with student information management software.
As discussed previously, we recently learned that on December 28, 2024, PowerSchool discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to certain customer data, potentially including some information relating to Mason County Central Schools.
We understand that on or about January 29, 2025, PowerSchool began sending notifications via email directly to certain impacted individuals and families to notify them of the incident. It is anticipated that these incident notification emails from PowerSchool will be sent to affected individuals and families on a rolling basis in the coming days and weeks. PowerSchool has represented its investigation into the incident has not yet concluded. As such, our understanding of the scope of the incident is actively evolving and there remains a possibility that those families who have not yet received an email from PowerSchool may receive one in the future, along with further communication from Mason County Central Schools
We understand that PowerSchool is sending the notifications from one of the following email addresses:Ps-sis-incident@mail.csid.com, Ps-sis-incident@mail1.csid.com, or Ps-sis-incident@mail2.csid.com.
As always, we encourage our community to remain vigilant when using email. When requested to follow a link or download an attachment, please review the sender information and the email domain to confirm that the request is legitimate. If you receive a PowerSchool correspondence that is not from one of the above email addresses or you are unsure about an email’s legitimacy, please exercise caution. Do not click any links or download attachments.
While we await final findings from PowerSchool concerning the scope of the impact of this incident, it is important to also remain diligent in reviewing your financial account statements and credit reports for fraudulent or irregular activity on a regular basis.
As a reminder, PowerSchool has set up a dedicated response line for this incident. The response line is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Central Time.
